The Life of a Band Geek: Day 2

I'm excited.
Happy.
Ecstatic.
Nervous.
Anxious.
Pumped.
Joyful.
Fearful.
Confident.
Shy.
All at the same time.

Why though.

One acrynym.

conference is Friday. Yeah the band I'm in is playing there.
Everything is moving so fast.
It's all a blur.
But I remember every detail.

You know?
I realized something today.
My music connects me to so many people.

We were playing a song.
Pageant.
It's like
Page
Ant....
Is that a secret cold I mean code?

Anyways... I just can't help but think.
I am playing a song.
That was composed as a guy had a moment of musical visionary.
I'm am in a way speaking to a dead man.

Lots of other bands of played it concentrating on the same thing I am now.
Clarinets all over the country, world, everywhere, have played, maybe even ARE playing the same I notes I am.
They have worked, are working, will work on the  same things I am.
They just want to make sweet music... So do I.
As I play I think thoughts many before me have thought.
Thoughts on staying in time, tapering, attacks, releases, subdividing, and well, you get it.

Maybe I'm crazy.
Maybe I'm not,
but it sure makes me feel significant.
It makes me feel like I'm a part of something bigger than me.

What about you?
